Weekend Festive | Layers and Leggings
This weekend's mild temperatures and the Christmas decorations at Birkdale Village were the ideal backdrop to showcase this layered, festive look featuring the classic combination of black, white, and red.
The cream blouse is one of my wardrobe basics and a seasonal favorite. It has a tunic style which is my go-to for pairing with leggings and it has an asymetical hem that adds interest to an otherwise plain top. The fabric is lightweigh and lined, making it ideal with for layering.
The bold red poncho brings in a taste of the holidays. The pop of color adds vibrancy to an otherwise neutral palette. The asymetrical lines of this pullover work together with the lines of the blouse to create an illusion that flatters the body and covers my problem area (tummy). Two birds, one stone...you gotta love it.
Every time I wear these vegan leather leggings, I get lots of compliments. They add pizaaz to the outfit without taking it over the top. The leather-look makes it a definite pick for nightime wear, yet they’re still casual enough to not feel out of place during the day.
For shoes I went with the calf hair mocassins in leopard print. They’re almost camouflage against the leaves. If this was for a night out, I would have opted for my heeled leather booties. But I decided to keep it casual and comfortable with flats.
As a final touch I added my Tory Burch sunglasses. They've been tucked away for a while due to my need for prescription sunglasses and that whole aging thing. Now that I have contact lenses, I'm thrilled to be wearing designer sunglasses again.
