Gallery Wall - Summer
Today is September 1. It’s time to change over the calendar and change out the gallery wall. Even when the temperatures remind us that it’s still summer, there’s no doubt that September forecasts the changing of seasons that’s soon to come. And with that comes a new seasonal theme for the gallery wall. But first…let’s take a tour before it’s time to say goodbye.
I really like all the different mediums and elements that came together to create this summer version. My unofficial theme was ‘My Favorite Things,’ so there will definitely be a few cherished pieces that I’ll carry over for fall. The rest will be reused at a later time or repurposed for continued enjoyment.
The Tour
Florals and Stripes (top left)
This was the inspiration for the entire wall. It’s a c.b.bliss original. It’s made with flowers cut from an issue of Martha Stewart Living magazine that I thought was pretty. I glued one of the cutouts to some black & white striped scrap paper to help the flowers stand out.
Shirley Chisolm (top right)
Everything about this print by Gill D. Illustrations embodies the spirit of Shirley Chisolm’s 1972 Presidential run. Her slogan of “Unbought and Unbossed” speaks to my political soul.
Jungle Print (bottom right)
This Jungle Out There print is from the YayDay’s stationery subscription for May, 2020. No additional adornment was needed for this beauty I simply printed and framed in a gold glittered frame.
Ego Tripping (bottom left)
“Ego Tripping (there may be a reason why),” penned by Nikki Giovanni, is an iconic black woman’s anthem. I typed and printed the first verse for the gallery wall because it kept replaying in my head. Listen to the entire poem here.
Peaches & Cream (top left)
For balance, I added a second YayDay Paper print. This one from the Freshly Squeezed (July 2020) stationery collection.
Let It Shine (top right)
Let It Shine is another c.b.bliss original that was inspired by It’s Me, JD. It started out as a birthday card that didn’t go as planned. Instead of trashing the project, I included it on the gallery wall for added texture and color.
Soleil
Soleil is part the Addie Rawr’s Golden Collection. Although she’s my favorite, I’m still coveting the other pieces and basically everything else on the site.
Florals & Foliage
I wish that I could say that the flowes and plant were nurtured by me. I don’t have a green thumb, so I went with faux. The plant stands are a DIY project made using wooden blocks and glue. The potted flowers are from At Home and the ferns were a Home Goods purchase.
Creatively yours,
Traci
