Gallery Wall for the Win
It wasn't love at first sight. Nor was it even a like at second glance.
It actually took a few months of staring and wishing for something else for me to finally accept that the color of my walls in my craft room wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Painting is not an option for me at this time. I don’t like painting, I’m not good at it. And since this is a rental, I’m not willing to pay someone to do it for me.
Given the formal tone of the wall color and trim, I feel pretty safe in saying that this space had a previous life as a dining room. Which I can appreciate. There are so many things I do love about the space — like the crown molding and bay window — that I decided to make it work instead of longing for something different.
Then this happened:
I created my first gallery wall and finally came to appreciate the wall color for what it really is -- a rich, warm neutral that plays nicely with so many other colors.
I had expected the bright colors of the YayDay Paper signature collection to be a complete mismatch. What a delight to find that none of the papers clashed with the wall color which lends a sense of understated elegance to the otherwise playful nature of the prints and images.
Learning to embrace the unexpected opens the door for new perspectives and pleasant surprises. From now on, I’ll be viewing my entire creative work space through a new lens of possibility.
