The oak tree in this photo is my favorite neighbor. I've named her Grace. The name seems appropriate for something that provides sanctuary to so many different animals. I can see her from my backyard and from my bedroom window. When I look at her, I see God's handiwork and I wonder...

…I wonder how old she is.

…I wonder if she was planted or if it was happenstance that she grew where she did.

…I wonder how many other people have laid eyes on her.

…I wonder if anyone has ever climbed her branches...or if a black person was ever hung from them. 😥

…I wonder how far and deep her roots have spread.

…I wonder how long it will be before she lets go of all her old leaves to make room for the new ones that will come in the Spring.
