Owning My Story

Owning My Story

Owning our story and loving ourselves through the process is the bravest thing that we will ever do.
— Brene Brown

As a practice of owning my story, I started documenting more of my day-to-day with a goal of becoming a more courageous storyteller. I blog, I memory journal, and I post to IG Feeds and stories. All of which have helped me with storytelling. Each, in their own unique way, make it easy for me to share it with all of you. And by sharing it with all of you, it has helped me be more courageous.

Posting about myself wasn't easy at first. Although It gets better with each post, there are some times when I have to talk myself into pressing the submit button. The key is to not overthink it and just do it.

I used to be intimidated by IG. And before that, I was was intimidated by Facebook. I was absolutely terrified by Twitter, which was my first social media love. In each instance I struggled with how to make the nuances of each platform work for me. I eventually figured it out and gained a comfort level that let's me engage on my own terms.

With Instagram there was the added pressure of so many stunning photos, beautiful people, perfect backdrops, and clever captions. Until recently, I didn't post regularly. I knew I couldn't compete. Then, it occurred to me that I didn't need to compete. I could just be myself. And so I did. And so can you. Just be yourself, it's more than enough.

With love,

Traci
