Dressed for the Occasion | Halloween 2020
I don't wear costumes, but I still like to dress for the occasion. This was not the outift I’d originally planned to wear. At the last minute I decided to go with all black to better coordinate with the backdrop and the theme of ‘I Put A Spell On You.”
The Blouse
It wasn't my intention to attempt a vamp look, but the dramatic sleeves of my blouse kind of gives it a black widow vibe. The way the pleats unfold remind me of a spider's web. I was also wearing spider earrings I borrowed from my daughter. Even though they don't stand out in the pictures or videos, they still add to the effect.
When I purchased this piece from WHBM a couple of years ago I was asking myself, “where are you going to wear this?” I didn’t really see myself wearing it to the office or as casual wear. I couldn’t resist the sleeves so I bought it and have found ways to work it into my wardrobe.
The Skirt
It’s a cargo-style skirt (yes, it has pockets) in coated denim. Coated denim is ah-mazing. It looks like leather and fits like your favorite pair of jeans. I have several pieces in this fabric from WHBM, including pants and a jacket. It’s machine washable and travels well.
The Accessories
The orange belt adds a pop of color. It also creates a peplum shape which accentuates the waist and hides the tummy.
The nail polish is ‘Good Girls Gone Plaid’ from the OPI Scotland collection (the best ever).
The shoes were a recent purchase from Aerosoles. It’s the Elba style in black leather with a 2 1/4 inch heel. I'd been looking for a strappy heel in black and these shoes not only fit the criteria of being fashionable AND comfortable, they were also on clearance!
Happy Halloween,
