From the Water | Travel Challenge Day 2
Seeing a city on foot or from the air is cool. Seeing it from the water is best of all! Day 2 of the Travel Challenge was all about the water views. Read on for my Top 3, and an honorable mention.
#1 - New York, New York
This remains my favoritest commute of all time — the East River Ferry from Brooklyn to lower Manhattan. I was staying in the Williamsburg neighborhood and being within walking distance of the ferry was a deciding factor for that week’s Air BnB. While the morning commute was a thousand times better than taking the subway, the evening commute stole the show. It was an absolute stunner!
#2 - San Francisco, California
One of the best ways to see this west coast gem is from the bay. Taking the ferry between Sausalito and San Francisco gets you that, plus views of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate bridge. The sun was shining as the ferry made its way back to Sausalito . By the time I’d sat down for an early dinner, the fog had started to roll in and obstructed the view across the bay.
#3 - Stockholm, Sweden
Stockholm was designed to impress visitors arriving by boat. As a city made up of islands, visitors approaching from the sea are greeted with lots of stunning architecture on a grand scale.
Honorable Mention - Xiamen, Fujian, China
Xiamen is a port city with an endless skyline. It’s ultra modern and high density. This is only a glimpse of the skyscrapers that I spotted on the return trip from my visit Gulangyu Island.
Thanks for traveling with me,
