3 Tips for Finding Pants that Fit Your Curves

I don't like wearing pants.

Leggings? Yes. Jeans? Occasionally. Pants/Trousers? Rarely.

Finding pants that are cute, comfortable, don't emphasize my FUPA, and don't need a belt (IYKYK) is the equivalent of finding a purple unicorn. t's nearly impossible.

Needing less room in the waist and more room through the hips and thighs doesn’t mean you have to compromise on having one or the other.

Yet, these paisley print pants landed in my summer capsule wardrobe. Not because I love them, but because they were in the back of my closet, met the color criteria of navy + white, and need to be vetted.

Anyone else struggle with finding pants that fit your curves? Here are 3 tips for getting a better fit:

Check the Sizing Charts

Check the sizing chart! But don't just like at the sizes. Take note of the difference in inches between the waist and the hips. Since I need more more room in the hips and less in the waist, I look for brands that have a 12 inch differece instead of the standard inches.

Embrace Your Curves

Curvy fit is not just for larger sizes; it applies at any size. Even if you're a size 2, if you have an hourglass figure you can benefit from wearing curvy styles. If the brand offers it, go with the curvy fit to give yourself more space through the hips and thighs.

Go for The Tailored Fit

Get them tailored. I'm fortunate that I've found brands that fit me well without needing to have them tailored. However, there are times when tailoring is necessary. For me, it's usually because my top doesn't fit correctly. For others, tailoring is the only way they can get a good fit. A good tailor is not cheap! I would recommend only in those cases where you'll get a good return on your investment.
