Jazz in the Vineyard

I kicked off this weekend on a high note at Jazz in the Vineyard hosted by Jazz Around Town, a producer of curated jazz events in the Carolinas.

The event was held at the Daveste Winery in Troutman, NC. Along with the tasting room and vineyard, there is nearly 60 acres of pastoral scenery for guests to enjoy. This was my first visit and I was thrilled to discover this gem so close to home.

The featured musician, Javonne Jones, is a jazz violinist hailing from Augusta, GA. Her music generated an electric vibe that kept the crowd singing along and dancing to every song.

As a group of us were dancing, I struck up a conversation with a stranger. She told me she'd had a rough week until her cousin convinced her to come out to the event. She said being outside, and listening to music, and dancing made her soul happy.
