BayHaven Food & Wine Festival - 2022
I was extremely excited to attend the BayHaven Food & Wine Festival this year. Not only do I enjoy a good food festival, I also feel good about supporting local events. The BayHaven festival is intended to honor the diaspora, foster education, and create meaningful and joyous moments of celebration by celebrating Black foodways and the industry members who make them possible.
This year's theme was "Homecoming". All of the event names were a nod to traditions of historically Black colleges and universities. I attended the Seafood 202 Dinner which included 9 courses and wine pairings prepared by a variety of chefs. It was held at Leah & Louise restaurant at Camp North End. The restaurant owners, Subrina and Greg Collier, are also the founders of the festival.
It was a thoughtfully curated event, starting with the glass of sparkling wine that was offered as you entered the restaurant. The decor, playlists, presentations, and food pairings were all coordinated to deliver on a delightful dining experience.
I'm already looking forward to attending more events at next year's festival.
